Backup power and generators

Preparing for an outage starts with deciding what must keep running. We plan backup power that brings generators, batteries, controls and the required fuel supply into one system.

Earning through frequency reserves

Reliable power. A chance to earn extra income.

With a suitable battery and controls, your solar system may earn extra income. Frequency reserve markets pay systems to help keep the electricity grid balanced. We check your equipment and grid connection to see whether this could work for you.

With our aggregator

We have an aggregator — a service provider that controls the battery and manages market participation. We help connect your system.

With your chosen aggregator

Already have an aggregator, or prefer another one? We can build a compatible system. We check equipment and control requirements before you order.

Before starting, we check suitability, carry out required tests and agree the terms. Income changes with the market. We also agree how much battery energy to keep for backup.

Could my system qualify? ↗

What does your site need to keep running?

A business may need to maintain production or communications. In a residential building, priorities may include heating, water pumps and access controls. Together we identify essential loads and equipment that can be switched off during an outage.

We agree the required operating time and how the system will be used. This provides the basis for a proposal that considers the existing installation, available space and budget.

Generators, batteries and controls together

The scope can include generator selection, automatic starting, changeover, separation of essential loads and battery integration. We also consider cold-weather starting, monitoring and maintenance requirements.

Where generator fuel supply is needed, we coordinate the planning of tanks, refuelling equipment, pipework and level monitoring with our partners. The site assessment and project brief define the actual scope.

From engineering to commissioning

You can commission an assessment, engineering work or coordination of a complete installation. We agree responsibilities for equipment, electrical work, controls and project partners before delivery.

The commissioning plan covers agreed tests and operator instruction. For an existing system, we can start with a readiness review and identify improvements. Maintenance and periodic checks are scoped separately.

What is included in the price?

The quote lists the equipment and work included. We agree installation, setup, testing and user guidance, along with warranty, maintenance and any aggregator connection.

Your questions

Questions and answers

What should you know before ordering?

Does backup power need to cover the whole building?

Not necessarily. It often makes sense to prioritise essential equipment: heating, water pumps, communications, refrigeration or selected production equipment. Together we identify what must keep running and design the solution accordingly.

Will backup power start automatically during an outage?

The solution can include automatic starting and changeover. We establish which equipment needs uninterrupted power and where a short interruption is acceptable. Starting a generator and providing uninterrupted power require different arrangements.

Should I choose a generator, battery storage or both?

The choice depends on the required power, outage duration and how the site is used. Batteries and generators can also complement each other. We compare options against your site’s needs.

How long can backup power keep running?

Runtime depends on consumption, usable battery energy or the generator’s fuel supply, and operating arrangements. We start with how long essential equipment must run and size the solution for that objective.

Can I keep my existing generator?

Possibly. We first need to assess its condition, power, starting and control capabilities, and suitability for your electrical installation. This determines what can stay and what needs upgrading.

What determines the price of backup power?

The price depends on required power and runtime, equipment, automatic changeover, electrical work, installation conditions and any fuel supply arrangements. Our proposal defines the scope and assumptions so you can see what is included.

Who coordinates installation and commissioning?

FutureEnergy can coordinate solution development, overall project delivery and specialist partners. The proposal sets out who carries out specialist work, responsibilities, testing and operator instruction.

Can backup equipment also earn revenue in normal operation?

With suitable battery storage, controls and a grid connection, a system may participate in frequency reserve markets. We agree how much battery energy is reserved for backup and what capability can be offered to the market. Keeping a larger backup reserve may reduce earning potential.

Does market participation affect my energy security?

Market participation must be compatible with the site’s backup objectives. We define essential loads, the energy reserve and outage behaviour, then align these with the aggregator’s controls and contractual terms.

What do I need for an initial enquiry?

Describe the site, location, essential electrical loads and required runtime. Include any existing generator, electrical drawings or main fuse details. If technical information is missing, we help identify what needs to be established.

What must keep running during an outage?

Tell us about essential loads and required runtime. We can also assess earning opportunities with suitable battery storage.

Advertising measurement choices

With your permission, we send OpenAI an event only after an enquiry is successfully sent, with an advertising click reference when available. We do not send your name, email address or message for measurement. You can use the form if you decline and change your choice in the footer.

Your information.

Controller

FutureEnergy is a brand of Baltic Energy Engineering Service OÜ. For privacy enquiries, email almer@futureenergy.ee or call +372 5686 8083.

Enquiry form

The form sends your name, email address, selected service, location and message to our server, which uses Resend to send an email to almer@futureenergy.ee. The recipient mailbox is hosted by Zone. We use these details to answer your enquiry and prepare a proposal at your request. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to a business contact.

A success message means the email service has accepted the message for delivery; it does not confirm that it has been read in the mailbox. Your text stays in the form after an error. Unsent form content is not saved in persistent browser storage.

Security and retention

The website is hosted by OpenAI Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. Security tokens, a hidden control field and rate limits help prevent spam and duplicate messages. The website database holds a random request reference, a keyed content digest, sending status and timestamps. It does not store your name, email address or message. Rate limits use keyed hashes of IP addresses and email addresses, not their original values. Hosting and email providers may process technical logs needed to operate their services.

Technical sending records older than seven days and expired rate-limit records are removed when the form is next used. A technical retry reference stays in your browser for up to seven days or until the session ends. We retain mailbox correspondence as needed to resolve the enquiry and manage any resulting contract, and for applicable legal obligations or the limitation period for claims.

Advertising measurement

Measurement is off without your consent. When measurement is active and you separately allow it, our server sends OpenAI’s Conversions API only a successful enquiry event (lead_created), random request reference, time, page address and advertising click reference (oppref), when available. We do not send your name, email address, message or hashes of those details for advertising measurement. Reusing the request reference prevents duplicate counting. Clicking the send button or opening an email link is not measured as a sent enquiry.

We do not load an advertising pixel or use advertising cookies. Your measurement choice is stored in local browser storage for up to 180 days; the advertising click reference is stored only with consent, for up to 30 days. You can withdraw consent at any time through “Advertising measurement choices” in the footer. This stops future measurement and deletes the locally stored click reference. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place beforehand. You can use the form if you decline.
